ERS Statement: COVID-19 and upcoming ERS events
The current situation with COVID-19 is of serious concern for all of us who are part of the European Respiratory Society (ERS), and we are mindful of our duty of care for the health of our officers, members and patients.
In light of this, ERS has taken the decision to postpone or cancel a number of upcoming ERS activities. In all cases participants have been contacted by ERS and informed of the applicable changes.
We are continuing to monitor the outbreak very closely and the decision to reschedule or cancel further activities will be made based on the guidance of the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Commission, and the regulations/restrictions put in place by local/regional authorities.
ERS will aim to reschedule any affected events rather than cancel them. If this happens, all registrants will be informed as soon as possible.
At all ERS events, the following health and safety measures will be put in place:
- Delegates and speakers from countries with an active outbreak are asked not to attend any upcoming events. Alternative online options will be offered where possible.
- Infection control measures will be implemented at each of our upcoming events in-keeping with WHO recommendations.
This situation will be continually assessed and ERS will apply all necessary precautions moving forward.
